BackgroundHeterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein H (hnRNP H) is a member of the hnRNP family, which plays crucial roles in RNA metabolism, including alternative splicing, mRNA stabilization, and transcriptional and translational regulation. hnRNP H is involved in different stages of mRNA metabolism, including binding to promotor and enhancer sequences to direct transcription, stabilizing newly formed transcripts, regulating alternative splicing, and controlling translation. The expression level of hnRNP H is altered in many types of cancer, suggesting its role in tumorigenesis. Additionally, hnRNP H has been linked to various neurodegenerative diseases, such as spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and fronto-temporal lobe dementia (FTLD). hnRNP H has been shown to associate with hTERC (human telomerase RNA component) and modulate telomerase function, which is important for maintaining telomere length and has implications in cancer and stem cell biology. bio-equip.cn
