BackgroundMCM7, or minichromosome maintenance complex component 7, is a highly conserved protein that plays an essential role in the initiation of eukaryotic genome replication. MCM7 is part of the mini-chromosome maintenance proteins (MCM) family, which form a hexameric protein complex known as the pre-replication complex (pre-RC). This complex is crucial for the formation of replication forks and the recruitment of other DNA replication-related proteins. MCM7 has been found to associate with cyclin D1-dependent kinase, CDK4, which may regulate the binding of MCM7 with the tumor suppressor protein RB1/RB, impacting cell cycle progression. MCM7 is often overexpressed in various cancers and is considered a potential proliferation marker. Its high expression is associated with poor prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and other types of cancer. bio-equip.cn
