Due to its specific expression on neutrophils, Ly-6G has been widely used as a surface marker in flow cytometry, cell sorting, and immune phenotyping experiments. Unique expression of Ly-6G in bone marrow indicates its involvement in hematopoietic microenvironment, potentially regulating the development or function of immune cells within the bone marrow niche.
