PROX2 Belongs to the Prospero homeobox family.Contains 1 Prospero-type homeobox DNA-binding domain.Transcription regulator. Does not seem to be essential for embryonic development and postnatal survival. The prospero domain coincides with a domain in a Drosophila gene that is expressed in Drosophila central nervous system and in the developing lens-secreting cone cells of the eye. Exon 1 of the human sequence showed no clear similarity to the 3 alternatively spliced variants of chicken PROX1 cDNA. Human PROX1 exon 1 was found to contain repetitive sequences. Analysis of mRNA revealed that Prox mRNA was present in many different human tissues and that lens demonstrated the highest level. In all tissues but lens, PROX1 cDNA hybridized to a single band of 8 kb.
Human Prospero homeobox protein 2 (PROX2) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PROX2 in samples. An antibody specific for PROX2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyPROX2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for PROX2 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PROX2 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
