Rabies virus is a neurotropic virus that causes rabies in humans and animals. Rabies transmission can occur through the saliva of animals and less commonly through contact with human saliva. Rabies virus, like many rhabdoviruses, has an extremely wide host range. In the wild it has been found infecting many mammalian species, while in the laboratory it has been found that birds can be infected, as well as cell cultures from mammals, birds, reptiles and insects.
Canine Rabies virus antibody (RV-Ab) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate RV-Ab in samples. An antibody specific for RV-Ab has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyRV-Ab present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for RV-Ab is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of RV-Ab bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Canine Rabies virus antibody (RV-Ab) ELISA Kit listed herein is for research use only and is not intended for use in human or clinical diagnosis.
