MQCA (3-methyl quinoxaline-2-carboxylic acid) ELISA Kit is an indirect competitive enzyme immunoassay for screening and quantitative analysis of olaquindox metabolite,3-methylquinoxaline-2-carboxylic acid (MQCA) in animal muscle and liver.
Olaquindox is a chemically synthetic quinoxaline 1, 4dioxides derivative which has been extensively used worldwide since 1970s. Olaquindox was approved as a feed additive (for the control of swing dysentery) in the EU from 1976 , however it has been banned since 1999 (Commission Regulation 2788/98) due to concerns about its toxic properties (genotoxic and tumorigen in rodent), human health risk and animal welfare issues. The maximal residue level (MRL) of 4 µg/kg olaquindox residues in muscle, measured as 3-methyl quinoxaline-2-carboxylic acid (MQCA), was established before the EU ide ban but no ADI (acceptable daily intake) has been assigned.
