Collagen I (COL1A1) IHCstart Kit: Empower Your Extracellular Matrix Research
For researchers worldwide focusing on extracellular matrix (ECM) biology, tissue engineering, or fibrotic disease mechanisms, the Collagen I (COL1A1) IHCstart Kit from Starter-Bio is a high-performance tool tailored for precise immunohistochemical (IHC) detection of Collagen Type I. As the dominant structural protein in the ECM, Collagen I is pivotal to tissue integrity, cell adhesion, and pathological processes like wound healing disorders and organ fibrosis—making its accurate visualization a cornerstone of life science and translational research.
This all-inclusive kit is engineered to simplify IHC workflows, eliminating the time-consuming process of sourcing and validating individual reagents. It is fully optimized for formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues (IHC-P application) and has undergone strict cross-reactivity testing in human, mouse, and rat samples, ensuring broad applicability across common experimental models. Each kit supports up to 50 IHC slides and includes two core, pre-validated components: 25μl of Collagen I (COL1A1) Polyclonal Antibody (rabbit-derived, Catalog No.: S0B2201) and 5ml of Anti-Rabbit HRP-DAB IHC Detection Kit (2-step, Catalog No.: S0C2011). The primary antibody, recommended for use at a 1:500 dilution in IHC, is formulated in a stable buffer (PBS with 40% Glycerol, 0.05% BSA, and 0.03% Proclin 300) to preserve long-term activity, while the detection kit ensures robust, specific signal amplification with minimal non-specific background—critical for clear, quantifiable Collagen I localization.
Whether you’re analyzing Collagen I deposition in cirrhotic liver tissues, investigating its expression during bone regeneration, or studying its role in the tumor microenvironment, this kit delivers consistent, reproducible results to reduce experimental variability. Storage is also user-friendly: the primary antibody requires -20°C storage (12-month shelf life from receipt) and the detection kit is maintained at 2-8°C (12-month shelf life), making it suitable for long-term research projects and batch experiments.

Background
Collagen alpha-1 (I) chain (also known as Alpha-1 type I collagen) is encoded by the COL1A1 gene in human. Collagen is the major component of the extracellular matrix (ECM) and form the fibrils of tendons, ligaments, and bones. Type I collagen consists of two alpha I chains and one alpha 2 chain. The reagent can complete 50 slides for IHC experiment and the primary antibody is excessive.
