In cell biology, the centrosome (Latin centrum 'center' + Greek sōma 'body') is an organelle that serves as the main microtubule organizing center (MTOC) of the animal cell as well as a regulator of cell-cycle progression. The centrosome is thought to have evolved only in the metazoan lineage of eukaryotic cells. Fungi and plants lack centrosomes and therefore use other MTOC structures to organize their microtubules. Although the centrosome has a key role in efficient mitosis in animal cells, it is not essential in certain fly and flatworm species

Rat Anti-centrol and centrosome antibody (ACA) ELISA Kit employs the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to ACA. Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP)-conjugated ACA and incubated. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between with HRP labeled ACA and unlabeled ACA with the antibody. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of ACA in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
