Atrial Light Chain-1 (ALC-1), also known as Essential Light Chain, Atrial is a protein that in humans is encoded by the MYL4 gene.ALC-1 is expressed in fetal cardiac ventricular and fetal skeletal muscle, as well as fetal and adult cardiac atrial tissue. ALC-1 expression is reactivated in human ventricular myocardium in various cardiac muscle diseases, including hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy, ischemic cardiomyopathy and congenital heart diseases.

Rat Myosin light chain 4 (MYL4) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MYL4 in samples. An antibody specific for MYL4 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMYL4 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MYL4 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MYL4 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
