ANGPTL4 (Angiopoietin Like 4) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with ANGPTL4 include Plasma Triglyceride Level Qtl, Low and Severe Nonproliferative Diabetic Retinopathy. Among its related pathways are Regulation of lipid metabolism by Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARalpha) and Metabolism. GO annotations related to this gene include enzyme inhibitor activity. An important paralog of this gene is ANGPTL3. Protein with hypoxia-induced expression in endothelial cells. May act as a regulator of angiogenesis and modulate tumorigenesis. Inhibits proliferation, migration, and tubule formation of endothelial cells and reduces vascular leakage. May exert a protective function on endothelial cells through an endocrine action. It is directly involved in regulating glucose homeostasis, lipid metabolism, and insulin sensitivity. In response to hypoxia, the unprocessed form of the protein accumulates in the subendothelial extracellular matrix (ECM). The matrix-associated and immobilized unprocessed form limits the formation of actin stress fibers and focal contacts in the adhering endothelial cells and inhibits their adhesion. It also decreases motility of endothelial cells and inhibits the sprouting and tube formation.
Mouse Angiopoietin-related protein 4 (ANGPTL4) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate ANGPTL4 in samples. An antibody specific for ANGPTL4 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyANGPTL4 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for ANGPTL4 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of ANGPTL4 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
