LIFR also known as CD118 (Cluster of Differentiation 118), is a subunit of a receptor for leukemia inhibitory factor. The leukemia inhibitory factor is a polyfunctional cytokine that affects the differentiation, survival, and proliferation of a wide variety of cells in the adult and the embryo. LIF action appears to be mediated through a high-affinity receptor complex composed of a low-affinity LIF binding chain (LIF receptor) and a high-affinity converter subunit, gp130.Both LIFR and gp130 are members of a family of cytokine receptors that includes components of the receptors for the majority of hematopoietic cytokines and for cytokines that affect other systems, including the ciliary neurotrophic factor, growth hormone and prolactin.
Mouse Leukemia inhibitory factor receptor (LIFR) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate LIFR in samples. An antibody specific for LIFR has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyLIFR present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for LIFR is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of LIFR bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Mouse Leukemia inhibitory factor receptor (LIFR) ELISA Kit listed herein is for research use only and is not intended for use in human or clinical diagnosis.
