Cyclin D2 is a protein belongs to the highly conserved cyclin family, whose members are characterized by a dramatic periodicity in protein abundance through the cell cycle. Cyclins function as regulators of CDK kinases. Different cyclins exhibit distinct expression and degradation patterns which contribute to the temporal coordination of each mitotic event. This cyclin forms a complex with and functions as a regulatory subunit of CDK4 or CDK6, whose activtiy is required for cell cycle G1/S transition. This protein has been shown to interact with and be involved in the phosphorylation of tumor suppressor protein Rb. Knockout studies of the homologous gene in mouse suggest the essential roles of this gene in ovarian granulosa and germ cell proliferation.

Human Cyclin-D2 (CCND2) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate CCND2 in samples. An antibody specific for CCND2 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyCCND2 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CCND2 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CCND2 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
