Of these CK19 is the most frequently expressed cytokeratin endometrial cancer. CYFRA21-1 is a common tumor marker of lung cancer,non-small-cell cancer, small cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. For breast cancer, CYFRA21-1 may be comparable to the sensitivity and specificity of CA153. Measured jointly with any of the tumor markers as CEA, SCCA, NSE, can increase the sensitivity. Other as bladder cancer, nasopharyngeal cancer, ovarian cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, and also have certain positive rate. CYFRA21-1 in hepatitis, pancreatitis, pneumonia, benign prostatic hyperplasia may also be increased.

An antibody specific for CYFRA21-1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyCYFRA21-1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CYFRA21-1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CYFRA21-1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
