CYP3A43 encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. The encoded protein has a low level of testosterone hydroxylase activity, and may play a role in aging mechanisms and cancer progression. CYP3A43 is part of a cluster of cytochrome P450 genes on chromosome 7q21.1. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.

Human Cytochrome P450 3A43 (CYP3A43) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate CYP3A43 in samples. An antibody specific for CYP3A43 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyCYP3A43 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CYP3A43 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CYP3A43 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
