Apoptosis, a major form of cell death, is an efficient mechanism for eliminating unwanted cells and is of central importance for development and homeostasis in metazoan animals. In mice, the death inducer-obliterator-1 gene（DIDO1） is upregulated by apoptotic signals and encodes a cytoplasmic protein that translocates to the nucleus upon apoptotic signal activation. When overexpressed, the mouse protein induced apoptosis in cell lines growing in vitro. DIDO1 is similar to the mouse gene and therefore is thought to be involved in apoptosis. Alternatively spliced transcripts have been found for DIDO1, encoding multiple isoforms.

Human Death-inducer obliterator 1 (DIDO1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate DIDO1 in samples. An antibody specific for DIDO1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyDIDO1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for DIDO1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of DIDO1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
