Laminin subunit beta-1 is the beta chain isoform laminin, beta 1. The beta 1 chain has 7 structurally distinct domains which it shares with other beta chain isomers. The C-terminal helical region containing domains I and II are separated by domain alpha, domains III and V contain several EGF-like repeats, and domains IV and VI have a globular conformation. Laminin, beta 1 is expressed in most tissues that produce basement membranes, and is one of the 3 chains constituting laminin 1, the first laminin isolated from Engelbreth-Holm-Swarm (EHS) tumor.A sequence in the beta 1 chain that is involved in cell attachment, chemotaxis, and binding to the laminin receptor was identified and shown to have the capacity to inhibit metastasis.
Human Laminin subunit beta-1 (LAMB1) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate LAMB1 in samples. An antibody specific for LAMB1 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyLAMB1 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for LAMB1 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of LAMB1 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
