This protein is a member of the leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor (LIR) family. LIR family members are known to have activating and inibitory functions in leukocytes. Crosslink of this receptor protein on the surface of monocytes has been shown to induce calcium flux and secretion of several proinflammatory cytokines, which suggests the roles of this protein in triggering innate immune responses. This gene is one of the leukocyte receptor genes that form a gene cluster on the chromosomal region 19q13.4. Four alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described.
Human Leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor subfamily A member 5 (LILRA5) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate LILRA5 in samples. An antibody specific for LILRA5 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyLILRA5 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for LILRA5 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of LILRA5 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
