MMS19 (MMS19 Homolog, Cytosolic Iron-Sulfur Assembly Component) is a Protein Coding gene. Among its related pathways are Metabolism and Cytosolic iron-sulfur cluster assembly. GO annotations related to this gene include binding and protein binding, bridging. Key component of the cytosolic iron-sulfur protein assembly (CIA) complex, a multiprotein complex that mediates the incorporation of iron-sulfur cluster into apoproteins specifically involved in DNA metabolism and genomic integrity. In the CIA complex, MMS19 acts as an adapter between early-acting CIA components and a subset of cellular target iron-sulfur proteins such as ERCC2/XPD, FANCJ and RTEL1, thereby playing a key role in nucleotide excision repair (NER) and RNA polymerase II (POL II) transcription. As part of the mitotic spindle-associated MMXD complex, plays a role in chromosome segregation, probably by facilitating iron-sulfur cluster assembly into ERCC2/XPD. Indirectly acts as a transcriptional coactivator of estrogen receptor (ER), via its role in iron-sulfur insertion into some component of the TFIIH-machinery.
Human MMS19 nucleotide excision repair protein homolog (MMS19) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MMS19 in samples. An antibody specific for MMS19 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMMS19 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MMS19 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MMS19 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
