MPP3 product is a member of a family of membrane-associated proteins termed MAGUKs (membrane-associated guanylate kinase homologs). MAGUKs interact with the cytoskeleton and regulate cell proliferation, signaling pathways, and intracellular junctions. This protein contains a conserved sequence, called the SH3 (src homology 3) motif, found in several other proteins that associate with the cytoskeleton and are suspected to play important roles in signal transduction. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified. One transcript variant is experimentally supported, but it doesn't encode a protein.
Human MAGUK p55 subfamily member 3 (MPP3) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MPP3 in samples. An antibody specific for MPP3 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMPP3 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MPP3 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MPP3 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
