MPRIP (Myosin Phosphatase Rho Interacting Protein) is a Protein Coding gene. Among its related pathways are HIV Life Cycle and Cytoskeletal Signaling. GO annotations related to this gene include actin binding. An important paralog of this gene is TRIOBP. Targets myosin phosphatase to the actin cytoskeleton. Required for the regulation of the actin cytoskeleton by RhoA and ROCK1. Depletion leads to an increased number of stress fibers in smooth muscle cells through stabilization of actin fibers by phosphorylated myosin. Overexpression of MRIP as well as its F-actin-binding region leads to disassembly of stress fibers in neuronal cells.
Human Myosin phosphatase Rho-interacting protein (MPRIP) ELISA Kit employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate MPRIP in samples. An antibody specific for MPRIP has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyMPRIP present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for MPRIP is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MPRIP bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
