Liquid Filtration -- Using thin (~50 μm) micro-porous metal and ceramic membranes

    1. Solvent Filtration

  • Provide particulate-free solvent to equipment or process usage, such as, HPLC solvent elution, solvent cleaning system, etc.

  • Recovery of nano- and micro-sized catalysts, adsorbents, or products from reacted solvents

    2. Water Filtration

  • Remove micro-organisms, bacteria, viruses, and particulates from process water, tapwater, seawater in one pass.

    3. Performance Attributes

  • Stable in various organic solvents or oils

  • Stable at elevated temperatures

      Example 2. Filtration of cleaning solutions down to turbidity =0.00 for re-usage

De-ionized water and 70 wt.% isopropanol/water in two respective cleaning baths at 50oC working temperature are reused after filtration, resulting substantial reduction to generation of waste solutions.

 

Gas Filtration -- Using thin (~50μm) micro-porous metal and ceramic membranes

    1. Uniform pore size

           Nickel alloy membrane:    adjustable between 20 nm to 1 μm

          Coated-zirconia membrane with smaller pores than Nickel alloy membrane

    2. Performance Attributes

  • Filtration of particulates > 20 nm over a broad range of concentrations, particulate matters (inorganic, organic, micro-organism, viruses), and temperatures (cold, hot)

  • Applicable to various gases, air, oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, steam, oil vapor, or hydrocarbons

  • High permeance

  • Cleanable for repeated usage

    3. Example: Complete filtration of wood smoke (PM2.5 = 62,000 μm/m3)
